Lara Aucamp is the founder of Cape Town Lesbians – a Facebook group that organise regular and varied events to create a safe and non-judgemental space for networking within the LGBTI community. And she is the editor of AllThingsQueer.co.za
Lara was born in Pretoria and now lives in Cape Town. She loves kittens and sunsets, and spends much time confusing her friends with lame card tricks and pasta.
Queer is an umbrella term for sexual minorities that are not heterosexual, heteronormative, or gender-binary.In the context of Western identity politics the term also acts as a label setting queer-identifying people apart from discourse, ideologies, and lifestyles that typify mainstream LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual) communities as being oppressive or assimilationist.
